Kodak House Settlement Analysis
Project Summary:
The Kodak House is a more than 100-years-old heritage structure constructed by the Anglo-Scottish Society in Mumbai. The building was being reconstructed from the inside by only retaining the exterior facade. FGS handled a complex situation of analysing cracks development on the exterior facade arising due to multiple impacts of piling vibrations, TBM excavation in vicinity, structural settlements or impact of high oblique low tides, as the structure was close to the sea.
Scope:
FGS has assessed the building and has proposed to conduct Structural Health Monitoring of the building using instruments such as Tiltmeter, Crack meter, Geodetic targets, Piezometers and Readout units. It has also been recommended to employ Electrical Resistivity Tomography (ERT) testing for understanding the sub-surface characteristics including the strata and water levels.
